Hurricane Elsa is located 730 miles east-southeast of Kingston, Jamaica, and is moving west-northwest at 29 mph. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles. Interests throughout Florida should monitor Elsa's progress and updates to the forecast. However, the forecast uncertainty remains larger than usual due to Elsa's potential interaction with the islands of Hispaniola and Cuba this weekend. There is an increasing risk of storm surge, wind, and rainfall impacts beginning Monday in the Florida Keys and spreading northward along the Florida Peninsula through Tuesday.
